DISABLED LIFE UNIT
1. Corporate Information:
In order to provide academic and social support to disabled students studying at our university and to improve their quality of education and life, in accordance with Article 8 of the Higher Education Institutions Disabled People Consultation and Coordination Regulation, which came into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated 20 June 2006 and numbered 26204, our University Health Care "Disabled Student Unit" was established within the Department of Culture and Sports with the Rectorate's Approval dated 22 September 2006 and numbered 1898. It currently continues its activities within the rectorate of our university.
The name of the "Disabled Student Unit" has been changed to "Barrier-Free Living Unit" in order to avoid emphasizing the disability situation and causing discrimination for the applicant students. In order to expand participation in the work of the unit, the "Disabled Support and Consultancy Services Commission" was established, consisting of experts from all Departments, Faculty, School and Vocational School, Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center. In order to help our disabled students in the faculties, schools and vocational schools of our university, a board has been established by creating academic advisors for disabled students from each department, aiming at volunteering. First of all, considering the disability status of our students, academic advisors identify and assist students in their departments so that our students with disabilities can attend classes on the ground floor. Currently, in the single-storey (fully accessible) building located next to the Rectorate building (behind the central cafeteria) in the Central Çiftlikköy campus of our University, 1 academic staff (lecturer) and 4 administrative staff work to solve all the problems of our special needs (disabled) students at our university, both academically and socially. It provides guidance on the subject and tries to offer them a qualified higher education experience by legally securing their rights. In order to be used within the scope of our University's Disability Support and Consultancy Services Commission's efforts to create a service inventory for the disabled, in our Faculty/College/Vocational Schools and Institutes for individuals with disabilities and mobility restrictions (including the elderly); Thesis studies, research articles, congress papers and consultancy training services are continuing. In order to facilitate the lives of our students with special needs (disabled) studying at our university and to quickly find solutions to the problems they encounter; Disability-Free Life Unit Academic Representatives have been assigned to our Institutes, Faculties, Colleges and Vocational Schools.
