Events Were Organized Within The Scope Of December 3rd International Day Of Persons With Disabilities.


As part of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held on December 3rd, our university's Accessible Living Unit, the Department of Special Education, and the Accessible Campus Community jointly organized various events to ensure a stronger presence in society for individuals with special needs and to raise awareness among typically developing individuals about individuals with special needs.


The Accessible Living Unit, the Accessible Campus Community, and the Department of Special Education Teaching collaborated with the Faculty of Education and the Accessible Living Unit to contribute to the visibility of individuals with visual impairments.


The first event, organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, was organized by Dr. Ahmet Serhat Uçar, the Accessible Living Unit coordinator. Following the event, which included students from the Faculty of Education, information about individuals with special needs was shared, empathy activities were conducted for various disability groups. During the seminar, students had the opportunity to experience the experiences of individuals with intellectual, hearing, visual, orthopedic, and learning disabilities.


As part of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd, the Turkish Red Crescent visited our university's Accessible Living Unit for a talk. A visually impaired student from the Accessible Living Unit shared the life experiences of individuals with visual impairments. This event, which featured the experiences of students with various disabilities, concluded with questions answered by the participants.


The Accessible Living Unit, the Accessible Campus Community, and the Special Education Teaching Department continued their awareness-raising activities by visiting the MBB Special Education Practice School on December 3rd, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
